The Magh Mela draws millions of devotees to the Sangam city every year, representing a unique confluence of faith and tradition. To make the fair even more accessible this year, the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UP Roadways) has made special arrangements.

3,800 Buses On Main Bathing Days

For major bathing festivals such as Makar Sankranti and Mauni Amavasya, a total of 3,800 buses will operate from temporary bus stands spread across the city's four main directions. This system is designed to transport passengers to their destinations without hassle, ensuring they can return home safely after enjoying the fair.

City Divided Into Four Zones

The Mela administration and Roadways officials have divided the city into four zones, with buses available according to direction. This will allow passengers to easily reach the correct stand and catch a bus headed in their direction.

Eastern Zone: Jhunsi As The Major Hub

The Jhunsi Bus Stand has been made the primary center for eastern and north-eastern regions, operating the highest number of buses at 2,250. Buses will depart from here for major Purvanchal cities such as Gorakhpur, Deoria, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Badlapur, Tanda, Varanasi, Jaunpur and Ghazipur.

Officials estimate that the crowd from Purvanchal will be the largest; therefore, 100 additional buses have been kept in reserve for emergencies. In addition to Jhunsi, a temporary stand at Patel Bagh will also be operational on main festival days, doubling convenience for passengers.

Southern Zone: Leprosy Mission Stand For those traveling south, the Leprosy Mission Bus Stand in the Naini area has been selected, from where 505 buses will run. These buses will head to destinations like Banda, Chitrakoot, Rewa, Sidhi, Vindhyachal, Mirzapur, and Shaktinagar. A reserve stock of 20 buses will be maintained here to ensure travel is not disrupted during unforeseen situations. This stand will be active primarily on main festival days.

Northern Zone: Bela Kachhar and Vidyavahini Passengers heading north can catch their buses from the Bela Kachhar temporary bus stand or the stand built near Vidyavahini School close to CMP Degree College. A total of 435 buses will depart from here for cities like Lucknow, Raebareli, Ayodhya, Gonda, Basti, Bahraich, Pratapgarh, and Sultanpur. For security and efficiency, 50 buses will remain in reserve to help passengers reach home on time.

Western Zone: Nehru Park For devotees going west, 410 buses will be available from the Nehru Park temporary bus stand and Vidyavahini bus stand. These buses will operate on routes to Kanpur, Kaushambi, Sarai Akil, Manjhanpur, Fatehpur, Hamirpur, and even Delhi. 30 additional buses have been reserved to handle traffic or other challenges. In total, bus services will operate from eight locations during the fair, including Civil Lines, Zero Road and other permanent stands.

Official Statement And Normal Day Operations

Ravindra Kumar Singh, Regional Manager of UP Roadways Prayagraj, stated that while 3,800 buses will operate on main bathing days, 1,800 buses will run on normal days. Additionally, 200 buses have been reserved for the entire duration of the fair to be deployed in any emergency. On normal days, 870 buses will run from Jhunsi, 575 from Vidyavahini, 260 from Leprosy Mission, and 95 from Zero Road.

This plan will not only enhance passenger convenience but also organise the fair area by reducing traffic jams.
