Mahashivratri Amrit Snan: Amid an expected heavy crowd in the last phase of Mahakumbh, the Uttar Pradesh government on Friday announced that 1200 extra buses are going to be arranged for several districts. State Transportation Minister Dayashankar Singh stated that the step is being taken to provide convenience to the devotees.
While providing details, Singh said that the buses will be distributed to all the headquarters of the state. He said that the government has kept 1200 extra buses for the auspicious Mahashivratri Snan from February 20 to 28.
Singh added that apart from the regular buses, 750 shuttle buses are also operating in the Sangam area. He assured that the officials are being assigned to the particular duties and the devotees will get all the basic facilities over the course of a week.

Singh said that a large number of devotees are expected to take part in the religious event as it will be one of the last events of the grand Mahakumbh. He instructed to operate 25 new buses on a daily basis from the western region of the state. He said that the extra buses will be provided to Saharanpur, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Bareilly, Moradabad, and Aligarh to accommodate more devotees.
He assured that similar arrangements have been made for the eastern zone of the state too. Apart from this, he clarified that extra buses have been arranged for Prayagraj, Varanasi, Azamgarh, Chitrakoot, Ayodhya, and Devipatan as well. Singh also urged the devotees to have patience as the government is trying its best to provide commute facilities to everyone.
Apart from this, the authorities on Thursday announced that strict actions will be taken against the people involved in the sale or purchase of videos showing women bathing at the Maha Kumbh. They stated that more than 100 social media accounts linked to these activities have already been identified and strong action will be taken against them.
