The Kumbh Mela draws millions of Hindu devotees every 12 years to Prayagraj. This year's six-week festival has already seen around 500 million visitors since its commencement last month. Hindus believe that bathing in the sacred waters during the Kumbh can cleanse one of sins.

Maha Kumbh Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Vaibhav Krishna stated, "We were informed yesterday about social media profiles and groups engaged in these illegal activities. We have lodged FIRs against them and efforts are underway to identify those involved in these crimes. Such actions are punishable under the IT Act."

The NDTV report quoted the officer as stating that both sellers and buyers of these illicit videos would be arrested. The social media monitoring team is actively keeping track of these accounts. "We are taking action against profiles that upload such material," he added.
