A violent clash erupted between two groups in Revtapur village on Raebareli Road, escalating from a dispute over the installation of decorative lights on a disputed wall. The incident involved stone-pelting and gunfire, resulting in the death of one man and injuries to eight people from both sides.

Police have registered a case and arrested six people, including an externed criminal, in connection with the assault.

Dispute And Escalation

According to police, there has been a long-standing enmity between two neighbors in the village: property dealer Ajay Yadav and Anuj.

The immediate dispute began on Chhoti Diwali over putting up decorative lights on a wall near Ajay's house. On Monday, Anuj and his family members allegedly began verbally abusing Ajay. When Ajay protested, he was assaulted.

Later, Ajay went to Anuj's house to complain about the incident, at which point Anuj and his family allegedly attacked him. People from Ajay's side also arrived, and a brawl involving stone-pelting broke out between the two groups.

Fatal Shooting

It is alleged that during the altercation, Ajay's brother, Kapil, went to the rooftop with his father's licensed rifle and opened fire.

Anuj's brother, Sonu Yadav, was shot in the stomach. He was transported to Apex Trauma Centre for treatment, where he died on Tuesday.
