The Meerut Development Authority (MDA) has initiated the process for land acquisition for a new ring road connecting Hapur Road to the Delhi-Dehradun Bypass via Delhi Road. The decision was made following the MDA board meeting, and a formal letter has been sent to the Public Works Department (PWD) to commence the acquisition.

A total of 15 hectares of land will be acquired for the project. This includes 2.7 hectares from Sundara Putha and Rithani villages, costing around Rs 21 crore, and 12 hectares from Gumi, Budhera Zahidpur, and Jurranpur villages, costing approximately Rs 100 crore.

Including registration and other fees, the total expenditure on the sale deed process will amount to Rs 162 crore. The MDA will contribute Rs 100 crore, while the remaining Rs 62 crore will come from the government.

The ring road, designed to be 24 metres wide, will have an additional 10 metres of land reserved on both sides for potential future widening. The alignment survey for the road has already been completed.

Sanjay Kumar Meena, Vice-Chairman of MDA, stated, “A letter has been sent to the PWD to acquire land for the ring road. The PWD will now commence acquisition based on the alignment survey, with Rs 100 crore being provided by the MDA for the process.”

The project is expected to improve connectivity and reduce traffic congestion along key routes in Meerut.
