Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana: The Uttar Pradesh government, under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana, will hold four mass marriage ceremonies in February across various locations within the Meerut district. The initiative aims to assist underprivileged families by providing financial support for the marriage of girls from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, as well as widows and abandoned women.

These grand ceremonies will take place on February 1, 4, 8 and February 12. The district administration has encouraged eligible couples to register online and take advantage of the scheme to benefit from its various provisions.

According to District Social Welfare Officer, Sunil Kumar Singh, the target for the financial year 2025-26 is to facilitate mass marriages for a total of 748 brides in Meerut. According to a report by Jagran.com, so far, the district administration has successfully organised weddings for 518 couples under this initiative.

Singh further mentioned that preparations are already in motion to conduct four separate marriage ceremonies at designated locations throughout the month of February. Each ceremony will cater to eligible couples from nearby municipal areas and town councils.

Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana: Rs 1 Lakh for Each Couple’s Marriage

Under the Chief Minister's Mass Marriage Scheme, the state government provides financial assistance for the marriage of marriageable girls from underprivileged or destitute families, as well as widows, abandoned, or divorced women. The marriages are solemnised in a grand ceremony in accordance with the couple's social or religious beliefs, customs, and traditions. The objective of the Chief Minister's Mass Marriage Scheme is to promote social harmony and inter-religious tolerance within society.

Under the scheme, the Uttar Pradesh government spends Rs 100,000 per couple, of which Rs 60,000 is transferred to the bride's bank account to ensure marital happiness and help establish a family. Rs 25,000 worth of gifts are provided to the bride and groom, and Rs 15,000 is allocated for the grandeur of the ceremony.
