Uttar Pradesh has witnessed a decline in heinous crimes but a rise in crimes against women, according to the latest ‘Crime in India-2023’ report released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).

Under the Yogi Adityanath government, which has pursued a strict zero-tolerance policy against crime and organised gangs, the state has achieved notable success in controlling organised criminal activities and dismantling gang networks. Experts note that other state governments are increasingly looking at Uttar Pradesh as a model for effective law enforcement.
