The Ecotech 1 police have dismantled a gang involved in stealing aluminum cables from the under-construction Noida International Airport in Jewar. Four individuals have been arrested, including a site engineer working on the project who was allegedly colluding with the thieves.
The Insider Connection
The police investigation revealed a significant security breach involving an insider. The theft was being orchestrated with the help of Shivam Sharma, a site engineer employed by the Tata company, which is responsible for the construction of the airport's terminal building.
The Arrest and Recovery
According to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Sudhir Kumar, the arrests were made near the Gautam Buddha University (GBU) roundabout during a routine vehicle check. Police officers spotted a truck loaded with aluminum cables and signaled it to stop.
When questioned about the cargo, the occupants appeared visibly flustered and could not provide satisfactory answers. Upon stern interrogation, they confessed to stealing the cables from the Jewar International Airport site with the help of the airport employee.
Seized Items The police have recovered stolen goods and vehicles used in the commission of the crime, including:
- Seven bundles of aluminum cable with an estimated market value of Rs 15 lakh.
- A truck fitted with a fake number plate.
- A car used by the accused.
Details Of The Accused
The police have identified the four arrested individuals as:
Shivam Sharma: The site engineer. He is a resident of Lalpur village, Tappal police station, Aligarh district.
Izhar Alias Sonu: A scrap dealer currently residing in Sonia Vihar, Delhi. He is a native of Tikariya village, Dumariaganj, Siddharthnagar.
Irshad: A resident of Tikariya village, Dumariaganj, Siddharthnagar.
Siraj: A resident of Tikariya village, Dumariaganj, Siddharthnagar.
