Noida News: The Gautam Buddha Nagar administration has stepped up relief efforts for families affected by the rising Yamuna river. District Magistrate (DM) Medha Rupam on Sunday personally inspected the arrangements in Noida despite heavy rain. Officials said the district is maintaining a high level of alert to prevent any inconvenience to the displaced families.

Gautam Buddha Nagar Rain: Relief Camps In Sector-135 And 150

During her visit, the DM checked the facilities at shelters set up in Sector-135 and Sector-150. She reviewed food, drinking water, sanitation, accommodation and medical support provided to the affected families. Children staying in the camps were also given books and study material to ensure their education is not disrupted.

The DM interacted with families at the shelters and asked them about the arrangements. According to a Navbharat Times report, most described the facilities as satisfactory. She also distributed sanitary pads to women and directed the health department to monitor the health of all residents regularly, with adequate supply of medicines in stock.

Focus On Children’s Education

Medha Rupam interacted with school-going children in the shelter camps and asked them questions. She instructed officials to make sure schools continue without interruption for affected children. The DM stated that education must not be hampered and that classes should run regularly within the shelters.

Apart from relief camps, the DM also inspected the temporary cowshed set up in Sector-135. She reviewed the availability of fodder, drinking water, cleanliness and veterinary services. Officials confirmed that arrangements for animals were found satisfactory.

Visit To Sector-150 Pushta Road

Later, Medha Rupam visited Pushta Road near Sector-150, where several families were living in unsafe tents close to the Yamuna embankment. She instructed officials to motivate these families to move to designated shelters for safety.

Senior officials including Additional District Magistrate Atul Kumar, SDM Ashutosh Gupta, Tehsildar Prateek Chauhan and representatives from the supply, health and veterinary departments were present during the inspection. The DM warned that negligence in relief work will not be tolerated and directed continuous monitoring of facilities.
