The North Eastern Railway has launched the ‘Amrit Samvad’ initiative to develop railway stations in line with passenger expectations, improve facilities, and enhance cleanliness. Under this program, railway officials will interact directly with passengers and residents at major stations, including Gorakhpur, to gather feedback on available amenities and suggestions for station development.
Feedback collected during these interactions will be sent to the Division, Zone, and Railway Board, with efforts made to implement key suggestions after detailed discussions. The initiative follows directives from the Railway Board and aims to make stations more passenger-friendly.
In parallel, the Swachhata Hi Seva Pakhwara (Cleanliness is Service Fortnight) is being observed across North Eastern Railway stations and colonies. Divisional and zonal awards will recognise the cleanest stations and colonies. As part of the campaign, General Manager Uday Borwankar has also launched a ‘No to Plastic in Railways’ drive, targeting station premises and railway areas to make them plastic-free.
Chief Public Relations Officer Pankaj Kumar Singh stated that on the sixth day of the Swachhata Pakhwara, a cleanliness awareness campaign under the ‘Swachh Railgadi’ (Clean Train) theme was conducted across Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Varanasi, and Izzatnagar divisions. During this campaign, stations, offices, waiting rooms, platforms, and trains underwent special cleaning, and passengers and staff were sensitised on the importance of hygiene.
This combined focus on passenger feedback, modern amenities, and cleanliness is part of the railway administration’s effort to create safer, cleaner, and more comfortable travel experiences.
