Farmers in Uttar Pradesh who have grown paddy and other crops in the Kharif season will soon be busy selling their produce in the market. However, before they do that, they need to register their crops online and follow some important regulations to get the benefit of minimum support price (MSP) from the Uttar Pradesh government.
The paddy procurement period in UP will vary depending on the division. In some divisions, it will start from October 1 and end on January 31, while in others, it will start from November 1 and end on February 29. The target for paddy procurement in the current financial year is 70 lakh tonnes through four thousand purchasing centres of six purchasing agencies.

The MSP for paddy in Uttar Pradesh has been decided by the Yogi Adityanath-led cabinet at Rs 2,183 per quintal for normal paddy and Rs 2,203 per quintal for grade A paddy. Farmers should ensure that they follow the necessary steps to get the right price for their crops.
Here is a step-by-step guide to know how to get the crop registered for the benefits:
-
To register the crop, farmers will first have to fill out the registration form. The form can be accessed online or offline, depending on the availability of the service.
-
While filling out the form, farmers will have to provide information about the land and the crop they have cultivated. They will have to specify the area of land (in hectares) and the area of the crop (in hectares) for paddy and other crops. They will also have to enter the account number and the Plot/Khasra number of their land.
Along with the land and crop details, farmers will have to enter their Aadhaar card number and revenue records correctly. These documents are required to verify the identity and eligibility of the farmers for the scheme.
Farmers will also have to provide information about other members of their family, who can sell the crop at the purchasing centre in case of their absence. This person should also have a valid Aadhaar card and relationship proof with the farmer.
After filling out the form, farmers should note down the registration number and print out the draft application form. They should check the information carefully and make any corrections if needed. They can correct their information by entering their Aadhaar number or registration number on the portal.
Once the information is verified, farmers will have to lock their registration by entering the mobile OTP. This will complete the registration process and no further modifications can be made. Therefore, farmers should ensure that they enter accurate and complete information before locking their registration.
Things farmers should take care of for the smooth process of selling their crops:
-
After locking their registration, farmers should take the final printout of their application form and keep it safe. They should also keep a photocopy of their Aadhaar card and account book with them.
-
Farmers should enter their name, gender and Aadhaar number exactly as mentioned on their Aadhaar card. They should also enter a valid mobile number where they can receive important updates and notifications about the scheme. They should not share their mobile number or OTP with anyone else.
Farmers should link their bank account with their Aadhaar number, as they will receive the MSP payment for their crops only in their Aadhaar-linked bank account. They should also ensure that there is enough limit for depositing the amount received from the sale of paddy in their bank account.
At the time of selling paddy, farmers should bring their registration form, photocopy of their Aadhaar card and account book to the purchasing centre. They should sell their crop only at the designated centre and obtain an acknowledgement letter from the centre in-charge after selling paddy.
