A man allegedly killed an 11-year-old girl, who was witness to his relationship with her elder sister in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district. The body of the girl, who was strangled on September 25, was exhumed on Sunday on the orders of the district magistrate after the victim's elder sister informed the family members about the incident.
The accused man strangled the younger sister of his 15-year-old girlfriend after she caught them in her house on September 25, a senior police officer investigating the case said. The 20-year-old left the body of the girl on the cot to make it look as if she was asleep.
The elder sister did not inform her parents about the incident when they found their daughter dead the next morning. The body was buried the same day.
The elder sister said that the accused man had threatened her to not reveal the incident to anyone. She confessed to her parents three days later, after which they lodged a complaint against the man. He was arrested and charged with murder and criminal intimidation.
