A 13-year-old girl was allegedly forced to consume poison by three youths on a motorcycle while on her way to school in Uttar Pradesh's Pilibhit on Friday, police said. The incident reportedly occurred around 9 am near JMB College in Jehanabad. According to the victim’s uncle, Ramgopal, the attackers intercepted his niece, Anshika, and forced her to ingest a toxic substance before fleeing the scene.

City Circle Officer Deepak Chaturvedi indicated that the attack appears to be related to a family land dispute. "The victim's father has an ongoing land division dispute with her uncle. The accused, holding a grudge over this issue, reportedly stopped the girl and forced her to consume poison," the official said. He added that a thorough investigation is underway.

Superintendent of Police Avinash Pandey stated that police are gathering evidence through CCTV footage and surveillance data and four teams have been formed to probe the incident. "Action will be taken against the accused if the incident is verified," he assured.
