The Uttar Pradesh government has launched the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) project in Ayodhya, as part of its efforts for the beautification of the city and improving its infrastructure. The project, which cost around Rs 47.74 crore, was started in October 2021 and its first phase was inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on January 17, 2022.

The Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) aims to monitor and regulate the traffic at 22 intersections in the city, using cameras, signals, public address systems, and emergency call boxes. The ITMS project is one of the initiatives taken by the government under the Smart City Scheme, which also includes plans to start work on a new bus stand in the city.

The project is being executed by Technosys Security System Private Limited and monitored from a temporary control command centre in Amaniganj. Project Manager Nikhil Srivastava said that the project will help to keep the traffic smooth and the people aware of the traffic rules.

These paths were adorned with mural painting, wall painting, pebble stone sculpture, modern lighting and Wi-Fi connectivity, representing a global standard achieved through the appropriate utilisation of solar energy, according to the official statement by the CMO.
