Varanasi police have intensified security measures across the city ahead of the dual occasion of Jumma (Friday) prayers and the Karwa Chauth festival. As part of these efforts, Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) Shiv Hari Meena inspected a foot patrol route from Baba Vishwanath Gate No. 4 to Godowlia Girjaghar and Nai Sadak.

He was joined by senior officers, including DCP Gaurav Banswal, ACP Dashashwamedh Shubham Kumar, and police personnel from several stations.

Multi-Pronged Security Drive

In view of the festivals, the Varanasi Commissionerate Police have launched a multi-faceted campaign focusing on public safety and curbing illegal activities.

Festival Security: Security arrangements have been tightened around all mosques for the Jumma prayers, with additional police forces deployed. Special surveillance is also in place to ensure the safety of women celebrating Karwa Chauth.

Mission Shakti: Under the 'Mission Shakti' initiative, foot patrols are being conducted in various areas to enhance women's safety. Officers are engaging in direct dialogue with women to provide them with a greater sense of security.

Crackdown On Illegal Firecrackers: A special drive has been initiated to prevent the illegal storage and sale of firecrackers. This joint operation includes the police administration, Fire Brigade and Bomb Disposal Squad. ACP Meena warned that if a large, illegal stockpile of firecrackers is found, the premises will be sealed, and strict legal action, including the registration of a case, will be taken.

Official Appeal

The Additional Commissioner stated that such patrols not only ensure security but also act as a deterrent to illegal activities. He appealed to all citizens to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity to the police.
