SIR In Up: In a strict crackdown on negligence during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, District Magistrate Abhishek Pandey has ordered the withholding of salaries of 36 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) across the district’s three Assembly constituencies.
Officers said repeated notices and warnings failed to make these BLOs report for duty. Following the DM’s directive, Basic Education Officer Ritu Tomar immediately stopped their salaries and issued fresh orders to resume work without delay. Failure to comply will invite further administrative action, officials warned.
The SIR campaign is crucial for cleaning and updating electoral rolls before the next elections. BLOs face multiple challenges on the ground, as many voters work outside the district and only return during festivals or elections, making door-to-door verification time-consuming.
BLO Achieves 100% Task
In Hirnapura village (booth number 118), education volunteer and BLO Narendra Kumar achieved 100 per cent verification of all 585 registered voters through transparent house-to-house checks. Village head Manoj Fauji informed the SDM and BDO about the outstanding work.
SDM Shri Ram Yadav personally congratulated Narendra Kumar, stating, Strict action is being taken against negligence, but those who perform honestly and completely deserve appreciation.

Officials say the dual approach — punishment for the careless and recognition for the committed- will ensure the SIR drive is completed accurately and on time across the district.
