A 53-year-old doctor was allegedly killed by some people over a land dispute in Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur on Saturday evening. Dr Ghanshyam Tripathi’, who was posted at a community health centre, was attacked on his way back on Saturday. According to the deceased's wife, her husband informed her that he was attacked by Jagdish Narain Singh’s son, a resident of Narainpur. 

Dr Tripathi returned home in a rickshaw in an injured state and informed his wife about the assault. He was taken to the district hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries after which his wife, Nisha Tripathi, accused the attackers of murdering her husband.

“My husband came to the house in the evening, took Rs 3,000 from me and said it was for a person making a map. He left the house after having some snacks before returning after some time on a rickshaw in an injured state,” she said as reported by news agency IANS.

The police have registered a case and are conducting raids to arrest the accused. Superintendent of Police (SP) Somen Burma said the accused will be arrested soon and assured the family of the deceased of action in the matter.

The incident sparked outrage among the local BJP leaders, who reached the hospital and demanded strict action against the culprits. Former MLA Devmani Dubey said that the administration should take stern action on such an incident where a doctor has been murdered in the middle of the city.
