Uttar Pradesh: An acid-laden tanker lost control and overturned on the Unnao-Lalganj road near Semri village in the Kheeron area, Raebareli district, on Tuesday evening, resulting in one death and multiple injuries.

The accident took place around 6:30 PM, when the tanker, en route from Kanpur to Raebareli, attempted to overtake a high-speed roadways bus about 100 meters before the Semri crossing. In the process, the tanker overturned, trapping two people beneath it and injuring three teenagers.

Among those trapped was Jagdish Kuril, a resident of Semri, who died on the spot after the lower half of his body was crushed under the tanker. The second victim, who was riding a bike, is yet to be identified, and efforts are ongoing to rescue him.

The three injured teenagers, Sandeep, Omji, and Priyanshu, residents of Barisal Kheda, were on their way to coaching classes when they were struck by the overturned tanker. Omji suffered severe acid burns on the lower half of his body and was immediately referred from the Community Health Center (CHC) in Kheeron to the district hospital due to his critical condition. Sandeep and Priyanshu sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the CHC.

The accident caused panic in the area, with the loud crash and screams of the injured drawing nearby residents to the scene. A large crowd quickly gathered, and police arrived shortly after to manage the situation and provide assistance.

Kheeron police station in-charge Santosh Kumar Singh confirmed that one person has died in the accident and the injured have been sent to the hospital. Two hydra cranes have been deployed to lift the overturned tanker and recover the second person still trapped underneath.
