UP Approves 230 New MD-MS Seats In Govt Medical Colleges, Total PG Seats Rise To 2,135

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved 230 additional MD-MS seats in Uttar Pradesh’s government medical colleges, raising the total number of postgraduate (PG) seats from 1,905 to 2,135. This includes 189 MD and 41 MS seats.

The increase is expected to benefit MBBS graduates, allowing more candidates to pursue PG courses in government institutions without moving to private colleges.

Key additions in government medical colleges include:

-Siddharth Nagar: 6 MD seats (3 Biochemistry, 3 Community Medicine)

-Fatehpur: 9 MD seats (3 each in Biochemistry, Pathology, Anatomy)

-Hardoi: 6 MD seats (3 Physiology, 3 Community Medicine)

-Mirzapur: 6 MD seats (2 each in Physiology, Biochemistry, Community Medicine)

-Banda: 4 MD Pathology seats

-Firozabad: 24 seats across MS Orthopaedics, MS General Surgery, MS Obstetrics & Gynaecology, MD Anaesthesiology, MD General Medicine, and MD Paediatrics

-Saharanpur: 30 seats across multiple MD disciplines, including Physiology, Community Medicine, Pathology, Biochemistry, Paediatrics, Anatomy, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, and Pharmacology

-Ambedkar Nagar: 20 seats in MD General Medicine, MD Pathology, MD General Surgery, MD Forensic Medicine, MS Ophthalmology, and MD Paediatrics

Other colleges receiving additional seats include LLR Medical College (Meerut), Medical College Jhansi, Moti Lal Nehru Medical College (Prayagraj), Bahraich Medical College, SN Medical College (Agra), and Jaunpur Medical College.

-Super Speciality Paediatric Hospital, Noida: 9 new MD seats

-Sanjay Gandhi PGI, Lucknow: 31 new seats across MD and MS disciplines

-KGMU, Lucknow: 20 new seats

-Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital, Varanasi: 8 new seats

-RMLIMS, Lucknow: 4 new MD Anaesthesiology seats

-GIMS, Noida: 2 new MD Ophthalmology seats

The expansion is aimed at increasing opportunities for medical graduates and strengthening postgraduate medical education in the state.
