Preparations for Census-2027 have been accelerated in the state. For its effective implementation and management, District-level Census Coordination Committees have been established in all districts of the state.
Composition Of District-Level Coordination Committees
The District Magistrate or Principal Census Officer will be the chairperson of the committee. The Chief Development Officer will be a member, while in districts with a Municipal Corporation, the Municipal Commissioner has also been made a member. The Additional District Magistrate (Finance Revenue) will be the convener. Additionally, the Basic Education Officer, District Informatics Officer, District Economics and Statistics Officer, District Panchayati Raj Officer, District Information and Public Relations Officer, and a representative from the Directorate of Census Operations will be members of the committee.
Committee Tenure And Key Responsibilities
The committee's tenure will be from January 1,2026 to June 30,2027. The committee will ensure the timely completion of all tasks related to Census-2027, including preliminary preparations, training, house listing, population enumeration, the District Census Handbook, publication of data, and financial utilisation certificates.
