UP Govt Employees Bonus: The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, announced a Diwali bonus for state employees, providing a festive gift ahead of the holiday. The announcement, made on Wednesday, was shared through the Chief Minister’s Office on social media, stating that full-time non-gazetted employees, employees of state-funded educational and technical institutions, local bodies, district panchayats and daily wage workers will receive the bonus for the year 2023-2024.

The bonus will benefit around 14.82 lakh employees, with the financial burden on the state treasury estimated at Rs 1,025 crore. According to government sources, the maximum bonus amount will be capped at Rs 7,000. Additionally, the government plans to release employee salaries before Diwali, which falls on October 31 this year.

However, state employees and pensioners will have to wait for their dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) adjustments. A three per cent increase in DA and DR is anticipated after the central government’s announcement, raising the rate to 53 per cent. The benefit of this increase is expected to apply from July 2024.
