Uttar Pradesh News: The Uttar Pradesh government has revised its Electric Vehicle (EV) policy, announcing that only EVs manufactured within the state will be eligible for subsidies starting October 14. The change comes as the state’s current subsidy scheme, introduced in 2022 to promote EV adoption and production, comes to an end on October 13.

Under the new policy, subsidy benefits will be extended to EVs made and registered in Uttar Pradesh between 2025 and 2027. The move aims to boost local manufacturing as several cities in the state are witnessing the establishment of new EV production units.

Officials from the Transport Department said that the earlier policy, launched on October 14, 2022, offered tax and registration fee exemptions for three years to encourage EV purchases. Refunds were also provided to those who had already paid these charges. The policy helped push EV adoption across the state, with a strong response from vehicle owners.
