The Uttar Pradesh government will implement a smart parking system in cities. Parking slots will be determined based on time, with normal fees between noon and 5 pm and higher fees from 7 am to noon and 5 pm to 8 pm. Premium locations will also have higher parking fees. Among other modern features, parking areas will include EV charging facilities. FASTag payments for parking will also be available.
The new parking policy, along with a dozen other proposals, will be discussed in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday at 11 am. Following the cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister will also hold a meeting with the Council of Ministers, including cabinet ministers and ministers of state.
The Urban Development Department has drafted the Uttar Pradesh Municipal Corporation (Construction, Maintenance and Operation of Parking Spaces) Rules-2025, which will be presented to the cabinet on Tuesday. This will form the basis for the smart parking system. Parking lots will be equipped with CCTV cameras, digital signage, boom barriers, EV charging facilities, handheld POS devices, and FASTag payment options.
The Industrial Development Department's Uttar Pradesh Global Capacity Center Policy will also be presented for cabinet approval. An increase of eight Special Secretary positions in the Secretariat Service, proposed by the Finance Department, may also be considered.
The Transport Department's policy for establishing an All India Tourist Bus Park may also be discussed. A proposal for power purchase from the Energy Department is also expected. A proposal for the establishment of Chaudhary Charan Singh Seed Park in Lucknow, put forward by the Agriculture Department, may also be tabled.
The government has allocated Rs 250 crore for this in the current financial year's budget. Proposals from the Medical Education, Social Welfare, Child Development and Nutrition, and Personnel departments are also anticipated.
