Following the exposure of a Rs 9.94 crore fraud in the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, the State Agency for Comprehensive Health and Integrated Services (SACHIS) has suspended the involved hospitals from the scheme until further notice. The fraud involved misuse of IDs belonging to SACHIS officers and employees for unauthorised payments.

In response, SACHIS has written to the National Health Authority, Government of India, urging enhancements in software and digital infrastructure to prevent such incidents. So far, Rs 4.34 crore has been recovered from the implicated hospitals.

SACHIS CEO Archana Verma stated that measures are being taken to streamline and secure the payment process. Doctors, medical auditors, and hospital staff are being trained in data security protocols to ensure transparency and prevent future breaches.

Meanwhile, the payment of medical claims to other empaneled hospitals will continue as scheduled. She further informed that suggestions and recommendations made during a joint meeting of SACHIS and the State e-Mission team are being implemented to strengthen the system.
