A 23-year-old jobless graduate who was allegedly depressed after his mother remarried and his father passed away went on a slapping spree in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Over the past few months, the suspect, Kapil Kumar, allegedly slapped a number of people, including a woman and a retired PCS officer, "to experience dopamine rush," according to police cited by The Times of India.

After multiple alleged recordings of Kumar striking people while riding his scooter went viral on social media, he was arrested on Sunday evening. At least three of the slapping cases involved Kumar, according to Meerut City Vikram Singh, who spoke to TOI.

A man was strolling down the street when a young person on a two-wheeler abruptly slapped him, according to CCTV footage that had previously gone viral online. It was revealed that the individual was a former PCS officer.

Later, a woman who claimed to be a close relative of a local filed a complaint against an "unidentified man" for slapping her.

“He lost his father around five years ago and his mother remarried months later. He now stays with his mom and stepdad at Suraj Kund in Meerut. Kumar told cops he has been slapping people randomly while riding a scooter for dopamine rush and also encountered suicidal thoughts," Singh said.

According to Ilam Singh, Nauchandi's SHO, Kumar appears to have a medical problem that causes him to seek dopamine, a chemical in the brain that influences feelings of focus, motivation, and happiness. However, it was unclear whether he had received any medication.

A police officer said, Kumar stated he had a hard upbringing since his peers mocked him for his timidity.
