UP News: Over 71,000 Ujjwala Yojana Beneficiaries In Hapur Receive Diwali Gas Refill Subsidy

A total of 71,530 beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) in Hapur district received a Diwali gift in the form of a gas cylinder refill subsidy. The subsidy distribution programme was held on Wednesday at the district headquarters auditorium, in the presence of District Council President Rekha Nagar and District Magistrate Abhishek Pandey.

During the event, Rekha Nagar distributed subsidy cheques to five beneficiaries, highlighting that the Ujjwala Yojana has brought significant benefits, ensuring women’s freedom from smoke, improving their health, and contributing to environmental protection. She added that eligible families receive a free gas cylinder refill under the scheme during Diwali and Holi.

District Magistrate Abhishek Pandey informed that the subsidy is being provided in two phases, from October to December 2025 for Diwali and from January to March 2026 for Holi. 

Under the scheme, eligible families receive a subsidy of Rs 335.40 per refill from the Centre and Rs 559.58 from the State Government.

He further said that to ensure transparency, the subsidy amount has been directly transferred to Aadhaar-verified bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
