A professor from Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur district registered his name in the India Book of Records for engraving the smallest Ramcharitmanas. The professor, Ajay Kumar Mittal completed the record-breaking feat after engraving 12,585 shlokas within 300 lines on a glass surface.

Ajay Kumar Mittal engraved the epic poem, originally written in the Awadhi language, on a rectangular oxide-coated surface of a plain glass mirror. India Book of Records recognised Professor Mittal, who achieved the illustrious feat ahead of the consecration ceremony of Ayodhya Ram Mandir.

"Now, when Ram ji is going to enter his house on January 22 which our ancestors have sacrificed for, this is an homage from my side. I am very happy that I too contributed a little for Lord Ram," the professor said as quoted by the news agency ANI.

Prof Mittal, describing his attempt to create the record of engraving the smallest Ramcharitmas, stated that the plate on which he worked was 30.5 cm long and 16 cm wide. He added that he wrote the complete epic in 300 lines with a width of 16 cm.

"Ramcharitmanas has five rachnas, it is longer than Bhagavad Gita. I started writing from Bal Kand to Uttar Kand and accomplished it within 300 lines,'' he said.

Professor Ajay Kumar Mittal's smallest Ramcharitmanas can only be read with a high-resolution lens with bright light from proximity. The professor also created a Ram Darbar in the centre of the plate as a decoration for his masterpiece.
