UP Roadways: 40 e-buses will run for passengers travelling from the Major Salman Khan Interstate Bus Station (Jhakarkati) to Prayagraj, Lucknow and Rae Bareli. The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) allotted 40 e-buses to the Kanpur region, increasing the total tally of AC buses to 100. RG Mobility Company will run the operations in the Kanpur region. The passengers on these routes will travel in air-conditioned, comfortable e-buses.
“40 e-buses have been allotted to the Kanpur region of Roadways. Transport Corporation has signed an MoU with RG Mobility Company for their operation. In the first phase, routes have been decided for running e-buses. Process is underway to build a bus terminal in Azad Nagar and a charging station in Vikas Nagar. From September, e-buses of Roadways will start operating on fixed routes from Kanpur,” said Mahesh Kumar, Regional Manager of Transport Corporation.
Details About The Project
RG Mobility Company will run 40 e-buses in the Prayagraj, Lucknow and Rae Bareli routes from September 2025. Out of 40 e-buses, 15 e-buses will run from Kanpur to Lucknow, 15 e-buses from Kanpur to Rae Bareli, and 10 e-buses from Kanpur to Prayagraj. The construction of charging stations has started in Vikas Nagar and a terminal in Azad Nagar. In the Azad Nagar charging station, there will be six charging points, of which one point will facilitate the charging of two e-buses simultaneously, which means charging 12 e-buses at a time.
The UPSRTC has decided to run e-buses from Signature Greens City Bus Station to Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Prayagraj and other cities. The route of the buses will be finalised soon. Currently, there are 60 AC buses in the Kanpur region. As the UPSRTC has given 40 more buses, the total count of AC buses in the region has increased to 100. AC buses will run for intercity service and the passengers will be able to avail smooth transport experience.
