A WhatsApp group in Hapur district associated with the Samajwadi Party (SP), named “Samajwadi Party Parivar”, became the center of a controversy late on Wednesday night after an obscene video and an objectionable audio clip were posted in it.
The incident caused chaos within the group, which includes most of the SP's office-bearers and active workers at the district, city, and block levels. Within minutes, male and female party workers began calling each other. They raised questions such as, “Who sent this?”, “Remove it immediately!”, and “Such an act will not be tolerated!”.
As soon as the video went viral, screenshots from the group began to spread on other social media platforms, including Facebook, X and Instagram. The matter is now trending as the “SP Blue Film Kand” (scandal), causing an uproar in the organisation at both the district and state levels.
The video was reportedly posted from a worker's number, followed by an objectionable audio clip in a woman's voice. Female workers expressed strong outrage, describing the act as “playing with the dignity of the organisation” and a “deliberate conspiracy to tarnish the image of the SP.”
Considering the seriousness of the matter, the SP district organisation has sought a report from the group admin. The cyber cell has been tasked with investigating the number from which the video was sent. According to sources, the number has since been removed from the group.
Senior SP leaders stated that this incident is a "major stain on the party's disciplinary policy" and that anyone found guilty will not be spared.
While this is not an official party group, its admin is Tejpal Pramukh, a senior SP leader and a former district president (zila adhyaksh). He has been asked to explain his position regarding the tarnishing of the party's image and must clarify his position within three days. He is reportedly facing the threat of action.
Details of the entire matter have been sent to the state organisation, with assurances that if any other SP member is found to be involved, they will be immediately expelled.
Following the incident, the admin has temporarily closed the “Samajwadi Party Parivar” group. He has also appealed to all members to exercise restraint on social media and not to spread rumours.
