Students from all 4,516 non-government secondary schools across Uttar Pradesh will soon be connected to the ‘Pankh Portal’, an online platform designed to provide career counselling and guidance to students of Classes 9 to 12. The initiative has been launched by the Department of Secondary Education to help students explore career options, prepare for competitive exams, and plan their future paths.
Students will be able to log into the portal using a unique ID and password to access information on career choices, vocational courses, skill development, and exam preparation.
Officials said that many students struggle to choose suitable courses or colleges after board exams due to a lack of proper guidance, and the portal aims to bridge this gap by helping them make informed decisions based on their interests.
To ensure effective implementation, the department has directed schools to organise online and offline counselling sessions regularly. Expert counsellors will guide students virtually on diverse career opportunities.
Additional Chief Secretary (Secondary Education) Parth Sarathi Sen Sharma has issued instructions to all District Inspectors of Schools and education authorities to connect students to the portal and ensure smooth execution of career counselling plans.
