In a deeply unsettling incident from Uttar Pradesh's Gonda district, the family of 22-year-old Hriday Lal, who died following a violent altercation, staged a dramatic protest by dropping his body from a moving ambulance onto the National Gonda–Lucknow highway. The act was intended to draw attention to their demand for justice in the wake of his death.

According to media reports, Lal was assaulted over a liquor-related dispute on Friday, during which he was brutally beaten and his toes were crushed. He was transported to Lucknow for treatment but succumbed to his injuries. Notably, Lal had been married just two months prior to the incident.

On Monday, while his body was being transported in an ambulance for post-mortem, his family stopped the vehicle and placed the body on the road in protest.

A clip shows the body being dragged by the ambulance before it was laid on the highway.

Subsequently, family members and local residents gathered around the body, attempting to block traffic to demand justice.

However, Police present at the scene managed to remove the body and calm the protesters. The last rites were later carried out under police supervision.

Gonda Circle Officer Anand Kumar Rai confirmed that four individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident, stating, “We have taken legal action and the investigation is ongoing.”
