Preparations are underway to establish an Indo-Dutch Center of Excellence in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, to pave the way for advanced floriculture and vegetable farming. This will be the first center in the state established in collaboration with the Netherlands, aiming to enhance production and enable export-oriented agriculture.
Uttar Pradesh Horticulture Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh directed officials to expedite the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR). The minister held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the project, which is proposed for Sonikpur village in Barabanki's Trivediganj area.
The minister stated that the center will be established on seven hectares of land using Indo-Dutch technology and will significantly contribute to the prosperity of farmers across the state, including Raebareli, Amethi, Sultanpur, and Lucknow.
Dutch expert Jop van Balen provided insights into the technology, explaining that the project will facilitate advanced cultivation of high-yield crops like tomatoes, colored bell peppers, cucumbers, and various flowers.
A modern vegetable nursery will be established, and training will be provided to farmers. The meeting was attended by Joint Director of the Horticulture Department, Dr Rajiv Verma, and other officials.
