Vehicles without High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) will not be allowed to be sold in Lucknow, starting from May 1. Strict directives have been issued, mandating that only vehicles equipped with HSRP can be released from showrooms. Dealers failing to comply will face stringent action.
Additionally, all vehicle-related paperwork must now be completed within seven days of sale and handed over to the buyer. This move aims to streamline the registration process and curb malpractices where customers are charged extra for processing.
A major meeting was held at the ARTO office’s fitness center in Transport Nagar on Tuesday, where ARTO Administration Pradeep Kumar Singh and ARTO TransGomti Himanshu Jain reiterated that no dealer in the district should deliver vehicles without HSRP after the deadline. Dealers must also upload completed forms on the vehicle portal within seven days and ensure timely registration.
Dealers with a backlog of registration applications or incorrect documents have been given seven days to correct errors. Any dealer found uploading blank pages or false documents will face action, and a recommendation will be made to cancel their trade certificate.
Dealers explained that preparing an HSRP takes 12–24 hours and requested customers to complete formalities a day prior to delivery to avoid delays. They have agreed to comply with the new timeline for form submission.
Recently, Transport Commissioner Brajesh Narayan Singh issued notices to 51 dealers across the state, seeking explanations from the concerned ARTOs. Following this, the Transport Department has become more vigilant. A total of 107 dealers attended the compliance meeting, along with Divisional Inspector Vishnu Kumar and other officials.
