The Urban Development Department on Tuesday carried out a special 12-hour cleanliness and maintenance campaign across several municipal corporations in the state, focusing on clearing waterlogging, removing years-old garbage heaps, and addressing public grievances. Citizens were also informed about segregating wet and dry waste and handing it over to Safai Mitras (sanitation workers).

In Lucknow, 1,365 complaints were resolved through 32 tax collection and grievance redressal camps set up in all eight zones of the Municipal Corporation. An on-the-spot tax collection of Rs 2.3 crore was also recorded.

In Mathura-Vrindavan, the corporation cleared a 15-year-old garbage collection point at Machli Phatak and beautified the site. A special cleanliness drive was also conducted in Ahilya Bai Park and nearby areas on the occasion of Radha Ashtami.

In Ghaziabad, long-pending waterlogging issues were resolved in Mohan Nagar, Shalimar Garden, and the Mohan Nagar Bus Stand through cleaning of drains and pipelines.

Ayodhya received 20 electronic hopper tippers from Bharat Electric Limited for waste collection, one for each ward, equipped with GPS and route maps. Being electric, these vehicles will also help reduce pollution.

In Shahjahanpur, a 150-tonne heap of wet waste lying on Nigohi Road for years was finally transported to a treatment plant, while in Moradabad, 200 metric tonnes of neglected waste were disposed of after the area was officially transferred to the municipal corporation.

In Meerut, the Municipal Commissioner inspected Kanha Gaushala, reviewing the care, nutrition, and health of destitute and infirm cattle.

Similar cleanliness and awareness drives were also carried out in Bareilly, Prayagraj, Firozabad, Aligarh, Gorakhpur, and Varanasi, with the campaign resolving long-pending civic issues in multiple districts.
