Increased humidity in the atmosphere has been attributed to a combination of easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal at the surface and intense sunshine from clear skies. The wind direction has now shifted to north-easterly.
As a result, the minimum temperature began to fall from Friday, and it is possible that it could decrease by an additional 2-3° Celsius over the next 48 hours.
According to the Lucknow-based regional office of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather across the state is likely to remain generally dry until October 28 due to the absence of any active weather system.
Potential Cyclonic Storm Development
A low-pressure area has formed in the south-east Bay of Bengal and is moving in a west-north-westerly direction. This system could intensify and turn into a cyclonic storm over the south-west and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal by the morning of October 27.
This developing system may partially affect the state. Consequently, cloud movement could begin again in the state after three days, which may cause the maximum temperature to fall. If the cyclonic storm maintains its intensity, it could create conditions for scattered rainfall in some places in the south-eastern part of the state on October 29-30.
Meteorologists advise caution, stating that the situation will become clearer as the system develops. Dr Atul Kumar Singh, a senior meteorologist at the regional office, noted that clarity will come only when the weather system fully develops and the time draws nearer. BHU meteorologist Prof Manoj Kumar Srivastava echoed this, stating it would be premature to comment on the storm's impact on this region at present, and more can be said after two to three days when it comes closer.
City-Specific Forecasts
Agra: A change was observed in the weather on Friday as maximum and minimum temperatures dropped. The meteorological department has forecast a further fall of two to three degrees Celsius in both maximum and minimum temperatures in the next 48 hours, starting Saturday. Meteorologist Mohd Danish stated that the drop in minimum temperature is due to north-easterly winds.
Kanpur: Light cloud cover is expected on Saturday, but there is no possibility of rain.
Bareilly: There is a possibility of fog or mist in the morning and evening on Saturday.
Gorakhpur: Light mist is expected on Saturday morning, with the weather remaining clear during the day.
Deoria and Basti: The forecast is for clear weather.
Meerut: According to the meteorological department, the sun will shine through light clouds, and it will feel cold at night.
