The monsoon has weakened in Lucknow and surrounding central Uttar Pradesh districts over the past four to five days, offering only cloudy skies and moderate winds. According to the Meteorological Department, the region is likely to remain dry for another two to three days, but several western and southeastern districts are expected to witness extremely heavy rainfall on Thursday and Friday.

Senior meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh informed that there is a high possibility of torrential rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in parts of the state over the next 48 hours. Districts likely to be affected include Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Banda, Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi, and Lalitpur.

The department has also issued a thunderstorm and strong wind alert in nearly 40 districts, warning residents to stay indoors unless necessary. The expected downpour could result in waterlogging in low-lying areas and pose risks of lightning strikes and storm-related damage.

Meanwhile, Lucknow experienced relief from heat and humidity on Wednesday as cloudy skies and winds at 30–40 km/h helped cool down the city. The maximum temperature dropped to 32°C, about three degrees below normal, while the minimum temperature increased slightly to 28°C due to reduced night-time cooling.
