UP Weather: Taj Mahal Disappears In Fog As Cold Deepens; Visibility Remains Poor Across Key Districts | Check Forecast

UP Cold Wave: The cold wave is set to persist across UP for the next two to three days, with no major relief expected in temperatures. Although the intensity of fog is likely to reduce, cold conditions will continue to grip most districts, both during the day and night, according to the Meteorological Department.

Dense fog blanketed several parts of the state on Monday morning, with Agra witnessing zero visibility. Tourists who reached the Taj Mahal at sunrise were unable to view the monument from the Diana Bench due to the thick fog.

Senior meteorologist Dr Atul Kumar Singh said that very dense fog is likely to occur in Prayagraj, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Sant Ravidas Nagar and nearby areas. Dense fog conditions may also prevail in Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Chandauli, Varanasi, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Raebareli, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Saharanpur, Agra, Firozabad, Etawah, Auraiya, Bijnor, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi, Lalitpur and surrounding regions.

He added that while the number of districts facing very dense fog is expected to decline, reduced visibility will continue in many areas.

On Sunday, visibility dropped to zero in Agra and Kanpur, while it was limited to around 50 metres in parts of Fatehgarh, Ayodhya and Lucknow. On Monday, visibility in districts experiencing very dense fog may range between 50 and 80 metres, particularly during the night.

Despite occasional sunshine during the day, the biting cold is expected to continue.

A noticeable drop in temperatures was recorded across the state on Sunday. In Lucknow, the maximum temperature fell by 3.2 degrees Celsius to 16.9 degrees Celsius, while the minimum dropped by 1.8 degrees Celsius to 6 degrees Celsius. The lowest minimum temperature in the state was recorded in Kanpur at 3.2 degrees Celsius, whereas Hamirpur registered the highest maximum temperature at 18.2 degrees Celsius.

Meteorological officials have advised people to remain cautious as severe cold conditions are likely to continue over the coming days.
