Uttar Pradesh Weather Forecast:  The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued a fresh alert, warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms in more than 30 districts of Uttar Pradesh. According to the latest forecast by IMD, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Ayodhya, Sitapur, and Pratapgarh are expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall for the next two or three days. However, rainfall activity is likely to decrease in Lucknow with no fresh rain alerts in place for this week. Heavy rain lashed several districts of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday and Thursday, bringing much-needed relief from the sunny weather conditions.

UP Rain Alert: Heavy Downpour Likely In THESE Districts

Atul Kumar Singh, Senior Meteorologist, said, “Heavy rain is expected in Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Sant Kabir Nagar, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Gonda, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur, Sitapur, Barabanki, Sultanpur and Ayodhya on Friday.” Meanwhile, moderate rainfall with chances of one or two spells of heavy downpour is expected in other districts of Uttar Pradesh.

A fresh spell of heavy rain on Wednesday brought relief to residents from the heat and humidity. The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will hold around 24 degrees Celsius.

UP Rains: Flood-Like Situation In Varanasi As Ganga Crosses Danger Mark

Several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Prayagraj and Varanasi, are experiencing a flood-like situation after the Ganga River breached the danger mark amid continuous monsoon showers. The water level of the Ganga River is continuously rising, prompting authorities to ban boat operations.

According to the Central Water Commission, the river was currently flowing at 69.98 metres on Saturday, which is very close to the 71.26-metre danger mark in Varanasi.
