Uttar Pradesh Weather Update: Heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds lashed several parts of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, affecting districts from the western region to Purvanchal. The sudden change in weather brought thunderstorms and drizzles, offering relief from the heat but also causing casualties and crop damage.

At least three people were killed in separate lightning incidents. In Jaunpur, a woman died and two others were injured. Another fatality was reported from Sonbhadra, where a man lost his life and one person suffered severe burns. In Chandauli, lightning claimed the life of another woman.

Districts in Varanasi, Mirzapur and Azamgarh divisions experienced weather changes post noon, with strong winds and light rain. The Bareilly division witnessed thunderstorms and evening showers. Nigohi in Shahjahanpur and Pilibhit reported hailstorms that damaged mango crops. Rain was also reported from Bareilly and Badaun.

In Moradabad, a half-hour spell of heavy rain and hail caused waterlogging in several areas, with potential harm to vegetable crops. Pratapgarh experienced light rain and drizzle was reported from parts of Prayagraj.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more rain accompanied by strong winds and lightning across various districts over the next two days. The IMD has also warned of the possibility of hailstorms in isolated areas.

Following this period, a rise in temperatures is expected as rainfall begins to decline. Meanwhile, Banda recorded the highest temperature in the state at 41 degrees Celsius, while Muzaffarnagar recorded the lowest at 21.2 degrees on Sunday.
