Sitapur Journalist Murder Case: Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai expressed grief over the shocking murder of Dainik Jagran journalist Raghavendra Bajpai. He alleged that the journalist was murdered for exposing irregularities in paddy procurement and demanded the arrest of the murderers, compensation of Rs 1 crore and a government job for the victim’s wife.

Dainik Jagran journalist Raghavendra Bajpai was shot dead by miscreants while heading home in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. The victim was killed in broad daylight at Hempur Bridge on the highway in Imalia Sultanpur at around 4 pm. The journalist was travelling on NH 30 when his bike was rammed by a vehicle, after which he was gunned down by unknown attackers.

Congress Cites Law And Order Concerns

Ajay Rai met the family of the deceased journalist on Sunday morning and said, "The brave journalist friend had exposed corruption. He was murdered because he exposed stamp theft in paddy purchase and land purchase. There is a nexus between officers and criminal elements. If the murderers are not caught within two days, Congress will protest in the entire state. Law and order has completely collapsed under the BJP government. Congress stands with the victim's family."

Raghavendra had recently launched a campaign to expose the irregularities in paddy procurement for which an investigation was underway. At the same time, stamp theft was also exposed in the land purchase case. In this too, the tehsil administration had conducted an investigation. Action was initiated after confirmation of stamp theft, jagran.com reported

Raghavendra had also raised questions on the investigation in the paddy purchase and stamp theft case, the slow progress of the investigation and the lack of action. Raghav had also discussed with some of his colleagues about these cases.

Family Demands Rs 2 Crore Compensation

The family of the journalist has demanded a compensation of two crore rupees, a job for one member of the family and the arrest of the murderers from SDM Maholi Shashibind Dwivedi. The last rites will be performed only after the arrival of DM and SP.
