YEIDA Updates: The authorities on Monday stated that Yamuna Authority will build a new city in Aligarh and Mathura districts. They stated that the state government has already given its approval to YEIDA's Phase 2 Master Plan 2031. They further stated that the Heritage City and the Multi-Modal Logistics Park project in Aligarh district have already been approved, adding that both projects are part of the new city.

The reports suggest that the master plan related to the project is scheduled to be presented in the next board meeting of the authority. The officials stated that the authority will be able to start the process of land acquisition for setting up the city once the master plan is prepared. The steps from the authority will also ensure that the illegal construction on a large scale in the notified area is stopped.

The officials further stated that the new cities will also help in reducing the increasing pressure on the infrastructure of these districts. YEIDA had sent the Phase 2 Master Plan to the state government for approval in 2012, but due to objections, the master plan remained stuck for 13 years. However, the state government has approved the phase two master plan, leading to the formation of the new cities in several districts.

The authorities confirmed that two new cities will be established under the phase two master plan. While providing details, the authorities stated that a city will be developed in 11653.76 hectares in the notified area of YEIDA in Mathura district. The state government is planning to promote tourism in the newly established city.

The officials also clarified that 19.02 per cent of the total area, i.e., 2216.25 hectares, will be used for residential use. Apart from this, 1520.51 hectares of area have been reserved for tourism.
