Preparations for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Uttarakhand have been significantly intensified. Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dr BVRC Purushottam has directed the establishment of help desks in every district to assist individuals seeking information regarding the state's 2003 voter list.
Review Meeting And Current Procedures
To review the progress of the SIR, Dr Purushottam chaired an online meeting with all District Magistrates. Currently, the provisional voter list issued in October is being cross-verified with the 2003 voter list across all districts. The meeting also addressed the appointment of Booth Level Agents and adherence to the Election Commission's guidelines.
Directives For Officials
The CEO emphasised that the primary goal of these preparations is to ensure voters face no difficulties during the revision process. He issued the following specific instructions:
Voter Outreach: District Magistrates, Electoral Roll Officers, and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) must actively reach out to voters.
Relocation Checks: BLOs are instructed to personally contact and identify voters who have shifted to new locations.
Booth Awareness: 'Booth Awareness Groups' (BAGs) are to be formed at all polling stations across the state.
Officials Present
The virtual meeting was attended by key election officials, including Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr Vijay Kumar Jogdande, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Prakash Chandra, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Kishan Singh Negi, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Mastu Das, and the District Magistrates of all districts.
