Youth have emerged as the biggest beneficiaries of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s four-year tenure, with a record 25,000 candidates securing government jobs during this period.
On Saturday, appointment letters were handed over to 15 assistant teachers selected for the Government Ashram Paddhati Schools under the Tribal Welfare Department.
Since taking office on July 4, 2021, the Dhami government has prioritised employment and skill development for the state’s youth. Over 25,000 candidates have secured permanent jobs in government services through the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission, Subordinate Service Selection Commission, and the Medical Service Selection Board.

Recruitment processes in several departments are still underway, and final recommendations are expected soon, which could push the total number of government appointments even higher.
To boost overseas opportunities, the government launched the Mukhyamantri Kaushal Unnayan evam Vaishvik Rozgar Yojana on November 9, 2022. Under the scheme, youth are trained in hospitality, nursing, and automobile sectors to secure jobs abroad. So far, 154 candidates have been trained, of whom 37 have already found employment in Japan.
In a major reform, the government also enforced a strict anti-copying law in 2024, cracking down on the paper leak mafia. More than 100 individuals involved in such rackets have been jailed, and no examination paper has been leaked since the law came into effect.
Chief Minister Dhami said the government’s effort is to ensure that the state’s resources and manpower benefit Uttarakhand itself. “Instead of migrating, our youth should become job providers,” he stated.
