In a move welcomed by the state’s teaching community, the Uttarakhand Education Department has clarified that the services of existing guest teachers will not be terminated following the recent deployment of 1,346 newly appointed Assistant Teachers (LT) across the state.
The department has stated that all affected guest teachers will be adjusted to vacant posts in other schools, ensuring that no teacher loses their position. According to information received by the Directorate of Education and the Education Minister, around 200 guest teachers could have been impacted by the new appointments.

These teachers, many of whom have served for years on low salaries, had expressed concerns about sudden dismissal. Responding swiftly, the Education Department, led by Director of Secondary Education Dr Mukul Kumar Sati, issued instructions to all Chief Education Officers (CEOs) to ensure that no guest teacher is terminated immediately.
Dr Sati directed that guest teachers working in schools where LT teachers have been posted should be reassigned to other schools based on their subject specialisation. If subject-wise vacancies are not available in the Garhwal division, teachers will be adjusted to schools in the Kumaon division, ensuring uninterrupted service.

Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat praised the guest teachers for their contributions, stating, “Not a single guest teacher will be removed. The guest teachers in the state are providing excellent service.” The department has assured that the adjustment process will be transparent and fair, bringing relief to hundreds of guest teachers who have been integral to the smooth functioning of the state’s education system.
