In a major step toward digital education, 840 government schools across Uttarakhand are set to be connected to a virtual class network, enabling both smart and virtual classes to be conducted in a hybrid format. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will inaugurate the initiative on October 11 from the ICT lab at Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalaya, Nanurkheda.
The initiative marks a significant stride by the state government to enhance the quality of school education through digitisation and resource modernisation, while also addressing the persistent issue of teacher shortages.

During the launch event, local MPs, MLAs, District Panchayat Chairpersons, and Mayors have been instructed to attend the inaugural sessions in their respective constituencies.
Under this new hybrid learning system, two central studios have been set up at Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalaya, Raipur, from where classes will be broadcast live to connected schools. The system will also enable two-way interaction between teachers and students, making virtual learning more engaging and effective.
According to School Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, connecting schools to the virtual network will help deliver modern teaching facilities even in remote and border regions, improving access and learning outcomes for students.
A total of 840 schools from across the state have joined the network, including:
-71 from Almora
-29 from Bageshwar
-68 from Chamoli
-54 from Champawat
-55 from Dehradun
-53 from Haridwar
-64 from Nainital
-103 from Pauri
-80 from Pithoragarh
-53 from Rudraprayag
-120 from Tehri
-51 from Udham Singh Nagar
-39 from Uttarkashi
“This initiative is not only innovative but also a powerful step toward ensuring quality and equal access to education. It will take Uttarakhand’s education system to new heights,” said Dr Rawat.
