As part of the 25th State Foundation Day celebrations, a livestock exhibition was inaugurated on Saturday at the Himalayan Sanskriti Sabhagar. The event was launched by Animal Husbandry Director Dr Uday Shankar Pandey, under the guidance of Animal Husbandry Minister Saurabh Bahuguna and Secretary VVRC Purushottam.

During the programme, livestock farmers were informed about government schemes aimed at improving animal husbandry practices in the state. Under the initiative, 500 CM State Livestock Mission letters and 200 village cattle attendants (Gramya Go Sevaks) will be selected.

Programme nodal officer Dr Rakesh Kumar Nautiyal said the target is to issue 2,000 Kisan Credit Cards, 500 CM State Livestock Mission letters and appoint 200 cattle attendants across Uttarakhand by November 9.

As part of the Foundation Day celebrations, various seminars and programmes are being organised at district and development block levels until November 9. An Inter-State Migrant Uttarakhand Conference will be held at Doon University on November 5, followed by a grand farmers’ and livestock fair at Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, on November 7.

On the opening day, awareness programmes were conducted at eight locations across the state, while livestock exhibitions were held at 13 venues. Under the Badri cow conservation and promotion programme, 2,024 animals and 2,037 livestock farmers have benefited so far.

Additionally, 995 animals and 1,040 livestock farmers benefited from livestock exhibitions, 2,061 animals and 674 livestock farmers from awareness camps, and 1,025 animals and 1,563 farmers from the Badri cow awareness drives.

Chief Executive Officer Dr Rakesh Negi, Dr Prayankar Nath, CVO Dehradun Dr Satish Joshi and other officials were present on the occasion.
