On the occasion of Uttarakhand's State Foundation Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth over Rs 8,260 crore.

The ceremony for the inauguration and foundation stone laying was held at the FRI in Dehradun on Sunday, marking the state's silver jubilee foundation year.

Prominent among these projects are the much-anticipated Jamrani Dam and Song Dam.

Jamrani Dam Project: The foundation stone was laid for this multipurpose project, valued at Rs 2,584 crore. It is expected to provide 117 MLD of drinking water to Haldwani city by 2053. It will also provide irrigation facilities to 9,500 hectares of land in Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital (Uttarakhand) and 47,500 hectares in the Bareilly and Rampur districts of Uttar Pradesh.

Song Dam Project: The foundation stone was also laid for this project, costing Rs 2,492 crore. It will provide 150 MLD of drinking water to Dehradun by 2052.

Alongside these, the Prime Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for schemes related to various other departments, including energy, tourism, and the Public Works Department. He also released a sum of Rs 62 crore under the crop insurance scheme into the accounts of 28,000 farmers.

- Pithoragarh electricity substation.

- Solar power plants in government buildings.

- AstroTurf hockey ground at Haldwani Stadium.

- Foundation Stones Laid.

- Jamrani Multipurpose Project, Nainital.

- Song Dam Drinking Water Project.

- Establishment of electricity substations.

- Establishment of a women's sports college in Champawat.

- State-of-the-art milk plant in Nainital.
