Viral Video: Advertisement has always been about pinpointing the exact middle of the ‘scale’, especially when ‘creativity’ is concerned. Or else, anything more or less will simply cause an imbalance in the ‘message’, which will either make it ‘a bit too much’ or simply ‘plain boring’. Wondering ‘why the sudden lesson on advertising though’? Well, it seems like that is exactly what Apple's new iPad Pro became about, right after its release on Tuesday, May 07.

An advertisement of the new iPad, with a selling point of being the thinnest, was shared on social media by Apple CEO Tim Cook. However, more than the iPad, the ad instead took all the spotlight for being too ‘destructive’ and ‘disrespecting’.

The advertisement began with multiple inventions, instruments, and art pieces being crushed under a machine, at the end of which, the new iPad was revealed. The advertisement was quick to offend many, as people found the idea disrespectful to all the creations shown in the ad.

The video, ever since it was shared on the internet, has been circulating and gaining mass reactions. Most people found the advertisement disrespectful towards the creations and inventions that were crushed in the name of ‘creativity’, while a few others suggested to instead go for a revered video.

The video was shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), on the CEO’s handle ‘tim_cook’. The post was captioned, “Meet the new iPad Pro: the thinnest product we’ve ever created, the most advanced display we’ve ever produced, with the incredible power of the M4 chip. Just imagine all the things it’ll be used to create.” The video was shared two days ago and pulled a whopping 46M views from people.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “I can't relate to this video at all. It lacks any respect for creative equipment and mocks the creators,” a user commented.

“I felt sad when I saw creative tools such as musical instruments and cameras being destroyed. I don't think the creators will like this video. Is it my Japanese sensibility that makes me feel this way?” commented the next.

“The symbolism of indiscriminately crushing beautiful creative tools is an interesting choice,” added another. “It is a heartbreaking, uncomfortable, and egotistic advertisement. When I see this result, I'm ashamed to buy Apple products for nineteen years,” wrote a fourth user.

“I think the ad would work much better if it was reversed. All the objects should be expanding out of the iPad rather than being crushed into it,” joined the fifth person.
