Viral Reddit Post: Workplace boundaries are getting a bold new face and Gen Z is leading the charge. They’re not afraid to say no, prioritise mental health, or call out toxic work culture when things cross the line. A recent viral WhatsApp chat between an employee and his manager is a perfect example of that fearless attitude.

The conversation, shared on Reddit, begins with a simple message: “Sir, nhai aa paunga fever badh gaya hai.” The employee politely informs his manager that he won’t be able to come to work because his fever has worsened. But what followed quickly turned the chat into a viral sensation. The manager replied, “Chlo doctor ke pas chlte hai.” However, the employee calmly responded, “Need lagega to btaunga, abhi k liya paracetamol.”

While the boss seemed unsatisfied, insisting that the “director sir ne kaha hai jo b bimar ho use doctor ki prescription lo,” the employee decided he had heard enough. His next message is what won the internet: confident, sharp, and to the point. “Mai school student nahi hu sir, leave rahti hai, leave li maine, khud doctor hai wo, bolo mere naam ki prescription bana le. Nahi to prescription, aur leave application with parents' signature nahi hai mera pass. Aur mai abhi rest kar raha hu, msg ya call ka reply nahi karunga.”

"Not specific to this case but this whole Gen Z 'calling out toxic corporate culture' thing is becoming pretty common, kinda like a trend now. And while I agree, no one should be exploited or overworked, just make sure you're actually good at your work & what you do," a user wrote. "Thank god my company does not do such shit. Just say the reason that actually is and you get it," a second user wrote.

"We still have a long way to go but we're the change! This is not disrespectful at all, honestly, the manager needs to set boundaries on how to behave with a fellow employee," wrote a third user. "The only right way to respond is no response. Once you've informed your boss you are sick, there ends the matter," added a fourth user.
