AR Rahman Divorce News: Maybe the practice was common but the word was not, or maybe the practice itself is new- hence, its virality; grey divorce. In the last few months, the term ‘grey divorce’ has been repeated quite often. For those unaware, ‘grey divorce’ is a term used for the ‘increasing number of divorce cases among older couples’. Coming back to its ‘skyrocketing popularity’, Bollywood has been witnessing quite a few cases of the same. The recent and most shocking couple that confirmed their separation after living together for a long span of 29 years was hailed singer AR Rahman and his wife Saira Banu. It goes without saying that the news of the two divorcing caught fans off guard. As per reports, the separation was confirmed by Saira Banu on Tuesday, November 19. Meanwhile, the singer broke his silence on the matter yesterday, with a social media post.

However, the post which was otherwise too bittersweet to handle, ended up rather not sitting well with netizens the way the singer hoped it would. The post talked about the couple’s unfulfilled desire of wanting to hit the ‘grand thirty’. The singer also thanked his family, friends, and fans for giving the couple the privacy they needed. Everything in the post looked ‘sadly’ beautiful, UNTIL a hashtag made its way on the same post. Believe it or not, the social media post ended with ‘#arrsairaabreakup’ hashtag, which was quick to grab everyone’s attention for all the wrong reasons.

The post, after getting shared, pulled many reactions. Most people chastised the singer’s admin team for using the hashtag, while the rest asked the singer to ‘fire’ his team. Many also called the use of hashtag attention-grabbing and insensitive. As per reports, amid Rahman’s divorce news, a member of his group- Mohini Dey- also announced her separation from her partner- composer Mark Hartsuch.

The post was shared on X (formerly Twitter), on the singer’s official handle ‘Arrahman’. The post was captioned, “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter. #arrsairaabreakup.” The post was shared a few hours ago and pulled more than 3M views from people.

“ChatGPT and Hashtag ? Admin,” added another. “Why a hashtag after this? Are you out of your mind,” added a fifth person. “Now your followers are expected to trend this hashtag?” commented a sixth person. “Stay strong RAHMAN sir we pray to give you peace of mind,” added a seventh user.
